It does metabolise faster, but that doesn't change the amount of alcohol available for absorption. The cases where people have died involved large quantities of high-proof spirits and even then such incidents are rare. Hi, thank you for your comment. I don't have any scientific publication to prove the validity of my comment. It raises from an article I have read stating that inserting alcohol via the colon is dangerous, because it bypasses the liver and gets directly to the blood system. I think it even stated that some people had died to that. But I am happy to stand corrected if that is not the case.
I normally limit it to a single glass. Ongoing consent is crucial to everything I do. While I want her to relax a bit, I would never want her judgement impaired nor for her to struggle to communicate. Also, @jukkar is partially correct - it is the volume and the concentration of alcohol that causes problems. This is why I do not use spirits, only beer and wine. If I ever do use spirits, they will be heavily diluted.
